General Questions

What types of displays do you repair?

We specialize in Volvo Penta EVC / EDC displays (all models including EVC-A, EVC-B, EVC-C, and EVC-D). We also repair other marine engine monitors and boat instrument LCD displays. If you're not sure whether we can repair your specific unit, please contact us with the model details.

What symptoms can you fix?

We can repair:

  • Burnt or darkened LCD screens
  • Faded or missing display segments
  • Dim or failed backlights
  • Unreadable displays that still function
  • Ghosting or image retention

What if my unit has other problems besides the screen?

During our diagnostic process, we'll identify any additional issues. We'll contact you before proceeding with any repairs beyond the original scope and provide a quote for the additional work. You can then decide whether to proceed.

Do you repair units that are completely dead?

Our specialty is LCD screen and backlight repair. If your unit is completely non-functional (not powering on, no response at all), the issue may be more complex than just the display. Contact us to discuss your specific situation – we may still be able to help or provide guidance.

Timing & Process

How long does the repair take?

Our standard turnaround is 5-7 business days from when we receive your unit. Priority service (3-5 business days) is available for an additional fee. This doesn't include shipping time to, and from, our facility.

Can I use my boat while the EVC is being repaired?

We strongly advise against operating your vessel without a functioning engine monitor. The EVC provides critical information about engine temperature, oil pressure, RPM, and other vital parameters. Operating without this information could lead to engine damage or safety issues.

Do you offer rush or emergency service?

Yes! We offer priority service with a 3-5 business day turnaround for an additional fee. If you have an urgent situation, please mention it when you contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate your timeline.

Will you keep me updated on progress?

Absolutely. We'll confirm receipt of your unit, notify you when the repair is complete, and provide tracking information when we ship it back. If we discover any issues or need to discuss additional repairs, we'll contact you right away.

Shipping & Logistics

Where are you located?

We're based in the United States. We provide our full shipping address when you contact us to arrange a repair.

Do you serve customers outside the US?

Yes! We serve customers worldwide. International customers are responsible for shipping costs both ways, and should be aware of potential customs duties. We'll work with you to make the process as smooth as possible.

How should I package my unit for shipping?

Wrap the unit in bubble wrap or foam padding, place it in a sturdy box with additional padding on all sides, and seal securely. We'll provide detailed packaging instructions when you contact us. Include a copy of the email we send you along with your contact details and best contact phone number.

Should I insure my shipment?

We recommend using a tracked shipping service and considering insurance for valuable units. While damage in transit is rare with proper packaging, insurance provides peace of mind. We take great care in packaging your repaired unit for the return journey.

Is return shipping included in the price?

No, return shipping is not included in our pricing. For domestic and international customers, return shipping is charged at cost.

Pricing & Payment

How much does a repair cost?

Pricing starts at $250 for backlight-only repairs, $500 for LCD screen repairs, and $650 for our complete display service. The exact price depends on your specific unit and the repairs needed. See our Service & Pricing page for full details.

When do I pay?

We'll provide a quote when you contact us. Payment is typically due before we repair unit(s) and ship your repaired unit(s) back to you. We accept bank transfers, PayPal, and major credit/debit cards.

What if you can't repair my unit?

In the rare case that we determine your unit cannot be repaired, we'll contact you immediately.

  • Worst case scenario - we ship the unit back to you and you are only out the shipping costs
  • We may have an alternative unit available for purchase
  • We may even offer you a core value on your old unit if there are any usable parts

Do you offer any discounts?

We offer discounts for multiple units being repaired at the same time (e.g., if you have multiple vessels or are a marine service provider). Contact us to discuss volume pricing.

Warranty & Guarantees

What warranty do you offer?

Every repair comes with a comprehensive 12-month warranty covering the LCD screen, backlight, and all repaired components. If any issue arises with the repaired components within 12 months, we'll fix it free of charge.

What does the warranty cover?

The warranty covers defects in materials, workmanship, and the functionality of repaired components. It does not cover damage from misuse, accidents, improper installation, or normal wear and tear beyond the repaired components.

What if the problem comes back?

If the same issue recurs within the warranty period, simply contact us. We'll arrange for you to send the unit back, and we'll repair it again at no charge (including return shipping within the UK).

Technical Questions

How do I remove my EVC unit?

Most EVC units are held in place with screws or mounting clips. Carefully photograph and disconnect any cables (noting their positions for reinstallation) and remove the mounting hardware. If you're unsure, consult your vessel's manual or a marine technician. We can provide guidance if needed.

Will I need to reprogram the unit after repair?

No. We repair only the display components – the unit's programming and settings remain intact. Simply reinstall the unit and reconnect the cables, and it should work exactly as it did before (but with a clear, readable screen!).

Do you provide installation support?

Yes. If you have questions during reinstallation, feel free to contact us – we're happy to help troubleshoot or provide advice.

What causes EVC screens to burn or fade?

LCD screens can degrade over time due to heat, UV exposure, and continuous use. Marine environments (with temperature fluctuations, humidity, and vibration) can accelerate this process. It's a common issue with older EVC units, but fortunately, it's repairable!
